Barrington Public Library District

The Barrington Public Library District serves residents of all or part of Algonquin, Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deer Park, Fox River Grove, Hoffman Estates, Kildeer, Lake Barrington, Lake Zurich, North Barrington, Palatine, Port Barrington, South Barrington, Tower Lakes, and some unincorporated areas. It covers a 72-square-mile area, making it the largest library district in Illinois.

Bid Opportunities

Sealed bids will be received until 2 pm., prevailing time, on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, by the Board of Trustees of the Barrington Public Library District, Lake, Cook, Kane, and McHenry Counties, Illinois, at the Main Library Facility, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington, Illinois, 60010. All bids received after said date and time shall not be considered and returned unopened. All bids must be submitted on the forms furnished in the Bidding Documents. The project will be bid as separate trade contracts, which are as follows:

General Trades, Casework, Flooring, Drywall/Acoustic, Painting, Electrical.

Each Bid must conform and be responsive to all pertinent Bidding and Contract Documents. Bids shall be submitted on or before the specified closing time in an opaque sealed envelope marked “Bid” on the outside and addressed to: Ms. Catherine Mau, Assistant Director, Barrington Public Library District, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington, Illinois, 60010. Bids shall be opened publicly and the contents announced at the specified closing time and at the location immediately above. Bids may be held by the Library for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders prior to awarding the contracts.

Bid security in the form of a bid bond or certified check made payable to the Board of Trustees of the Barrington Public Library District equal to 10% of the base bid amount shall be submitted with the bid. Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds, and Certificate of Insurance will be required from the successful bidder.

The Board of Trustees of the Barrington Public Library District reserves the right to reject any or all bids or parts thereof, to waive any irregularities or informalities in the bidding procedures and to award the contracts in a manner serving the interest of the Library. Additionally they reserve the right to amend the bid documents, including the plans and specification, Scope of Work Notes and Supplemental Conditions, at any time prior to the bid opening, with reasonable notice to the bid package holders
All bidders must comply with applicable U.S. Department of Labor and Illinois Law, including compliance with the Prevailing Wage Act, Illinois Statutory requirements regarding labor and bidding, and Equal Opportunity Laws.

Bidding documents which include Construction Manager’s Scope of Work Notes, Architects Project Plans will be on file and may be obtained by qualified bidders on or after Tuesday, May 6, 2008 through BHFX. Documents can be picked-up or shipped through BHFX (847.742.2876). PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE FOR AVAILABILITY. A UPS account number will be required for all shipments.
