who are the friends?

The Friends of the Barrington Area Library was founded in 1956. At that time, the Barrington Area Library was located on Hough Street, where the Barrington Township is currently. The Friends is a tax-exempt, volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Barrington Area Library by providing materials, services and programming which are not funded by the library budget. The Friends also try to keep the Library Board and staff "in tune" with the needs of the community.

What We Do

The Friends meet almost every Monday and Friday morning from 9 AM to 12 PM in the Friends' Room, behind the general meeting room on the first floor. Membership is open to library members, so please join us!

The Library Delivery Van was purchased by the Friends of the Barrington Area Library. It is used 7 days a week, except for occasional holidays.
