Leaders Eat Last: why some teams pull together and others don't by Simon Sinek is now available at the library.

Simon Sinek, motivational speaker and leadership author, discusses the biological implications that lead certain organizations and businesses to pull together during the hardest of times and lead others to fail. Analyzing our ancestral roots and bio-chemical make-up, Sinek explains how our oxytocin, endorphin, dopamine, serotonin, and cortisol levels are affected by different managerial styles and business models. These can have long-term ramifications on our emotional and physical health, feelings of safety, employment status, and the economy as a whole.

Sinek gives a multitude of examples from businesses of all sizes that prove how the right setting and leadership style can create a profitable, successful, and above all, happy and fulfilling work environment. At the same time, the wrong type of leadership can lead to an untrustworthy and hostile business with shaky economic ground. As Sinek explains, "leadership is the choice to serve others with or without formal rank" and Leaders Eat Last explains how we can all be leaders that contribute to successful and fulfilling organizations.
