Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar Terry Rainey discusses the ill-fated last flight of B-29 ‘Hog Wild.’ Shot down on a humanitarian mission to North Korea, this event led to the Cold War hostilities between Russia and the United States. This program is made possible in part by an award from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly. OBOB will present the HBO biopic of Temple Grandin, the true story of an autistic woman who overcame the limitations imposed on her by her condition to become a Ph.D. and expert in the field of animal husbandry. Along with the movie, the audience will hear a brief presentation about resilience and children with special needs given by members of Barrington Area Special Voices. Hoy shares her family's experiences in raising two children with mental illness, while looking at the differences between institutional long-term care and the smaller group home option.
