The Village of Barrington, the Barrington Park District, the Barrington Sesquicentennial Committee, the Barrington Area Library, and generous local sponsors are hosting a weekend of Civil War era events here in Barrington.

On Saturday, September 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Barrington Area Library, Guy C. Fraker, author of Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency: The Eighth Judicial Circuit, will speak about Lincoln’s career in Illinois. Explore lesser-known facts about Lincoln’s Circuit experience and significant visits around the state, including Lake County. You’ll gain even more appreciation for this well-loved president. On Saturday, September 19th, an entire Civil War camp will come to life and open for the public at 10:00 a.m. at Citizens Park. The event will feature an Abe Lincoln impersonator, medical demonstrations, a fashion show presided over by Mrs. Lincoln, and a battle with commentary. Food will be available for purchase by Kooker’s from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

2:30 p.m. Post-Battle Medical Surgery Demonstration at the 17th Corps Hospital Tent

3:00 p.m. Presentation of Colors – Camp Closes to the Public

On Sunday, September 20th, the camp will open for the public again at 10:00 a.m.
