On Tuesday, June 24, stop by Meathead's in Barrignton! They will donate 10% of proceeds to the Barrington Area Library's Summer Reading Program, Read to Feed. All proceeds donated toward Read to Feed will go to the Cuba Township and Barrington Township food pantries. Stop by the library and get your voucher booklet, then patronize these generous local businesses and help raise money for Barrington area food pantries. Anyone can participate- you do not have to be a Barrington Area Library cardholder and you do not have to sign up for Summer Library Club. Register today for the 2014 BACC Women's Biz Net Athena Award Luncheon on May 29th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Biltmore Country Club in North Barrington.

The Athena Leadership Award celebrates exemplary leadership and is presented to women across professional sectors who have accomplished the following: demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession; provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community, and activity assist women in achieving their full leadership potential. The Athena Leadership Award's rich history, international scope and focus on mentorship, distinguishes it as one of the most prestigious leadership awards that one can receive.

Join us in honoring the following seven women who are nominated for their distinguished contributions: Bonnie Conte, Marlene Frykman, Karrie Gibson, Dee Dee Johnson, Eleanor Sweet McDonnell, Ellaine Sambo-Reyther and Jane Svensson Washburn. From the Small Business Development Center at Harper College:

Hands-on class designed for entrepreneurs with little experience working with QuickBooks. Topics include: setting up a new company, accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, bank reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, running basic financial reports, tracking and paying sales tax. Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to work on their QuickBooks file during the session.
